Moving Tips

When it finally comes time to move, you may be pleased to know there is an easier way to do it. You won't have to spend your time sifting through boxes or stressing about the state of your valuables. It will be as easy as tieing your laces and walking out the door.

Pack Early

Before moving day comes around, you should start slowly packing your things. The best way to do this is by starting at least a week before you move. This ensures you have enough time to safely pack all of your items in their appropriate boxes.

If your home is larger, you may want to begin packing two weeks in advance. Start with the less popular rooms and end with the most. This way you won't have to spend your time in an empty house.

Remove Clutter

When you being packing or unpacking, the process can take forever. Removing clutter by donating or throwing away items you do not want will help with this. It's best to do this before you move, but if you would prefer after, that works too.

To do this, find an empty box and label it as donate; you could also make a trash one too. While you pack/unpack your things, throw any items you find in their corresponding box. Before you know it, you'll have your unwanted items taken care of

Label Everything

Labeling your boxes while you pack them will help you when it comes time to unpack. Knowing what items are in the box will help you when looking for anything specific and when trying to figure where to put them. When labeled, the boxes can get placed in the room they will get unpacked in.

If you choose to hire a moving company for help, labeling your boxes will also help them know where your fragile items are located. This will lessen your chances of unpacking a box of broken plates or images.

Don't Overpack Boxes

When moving, it may seem like the fewer boxes you have the better. While this may cause less trash in the future, it won't help you on moving day. Filling your boxes to the brim will cause them to become heavy and hard to move.

This is especially annoying when it comes to stairs. Instead, pack your boxes with as many objects as you can without making them heavy. Some items, such as sheets, will fill your boxes without any trouble.

But other items, like kitchen appliances, may only allow a few items to fit with it. A lot of boxes may seem inconvenient, but they will save you a lot of time and pain.
